St Johns House Surgery
OVERVIEW

St Johns House Surgery

Situated about half a mile from the cricket ground on the west side of the river, the main building at St. John's House Surgery dates back to the reign of Queen Anne and is Grade II listed, the interior having been fully modernised. The Coach House at the end of the drive was fully refurbished in 1991/2 and two of our seven partners hold surgeries there. The Practice itself originated in 1894 and has been situated at St. John's House since 1966.

The practice list size is approximately 16,500 and is stable, the practice area extending from Worcester City out into the depths of rural Worcestershire, providing a fascinating cross-section of patients and home visits. We have district nurses, health visitors and a social worker on site within the practice and hold regular Primary Health Care Team meetings.

Our registrar has his/her own room and throughout the training year is encouraged to attend courses and study days and also to swap practices with other registrars in order to gain a perspective of general practice within the area. The registrar has one protected tutorial per week with the trainer, Dr Mark Young, and a further tutorial with one of the other partners on a rota basis.

The practice became a 'Firm 1' teaching practice in September 2002.
